Late Night Driving Vibes: Reviewing 1 AM by Raleigh Moore

1 AM by Raleigh Moore

Out of the songs I have reviewed so far, nothing makes me want to drive at night quicker than “1 AM” by Raleigh Moore. The dark, atmospheric synth combined with the steady drum beat create a vibe that is both forward moving and melodramatic. Throw on Raleigh’s vocals and you get a sound that reminds me of a more synth-heavy Evanescence. It’s a vibe that would fit so easily with highway speeds, loud speakers, and a cloudy night.

“1 AM” came around from a place most of us know well: late at night when your thoughts get loud. Raleigh says he simply started writing them down in lyric form, without much thought to it, a process that he mentioned was new to him. He describes the finished song as a “raw translation” of his thoughts at 1:00am, and you can hear it in the writing. The production followed the same spontaneity. Raleigh set out to make a beat that sounded good without getting too complex, and the dark, atmospheric mood took over from there. The synths and piano came next, adding the mellowed, laid-back undercurrent beneath all that forward momentum. He also kept the vocals refreshingly acoustic for the track. Raleigh didn’t want heavy vocal production, only a voice listeners could hear as it is. When we asked Raleigh about the message behind “1 AM”, he noted that his goal was to remind the listener that they aren’t alone in being overwhelmed by their late-night thoughts. “1 AM” reminds the listener that taking the time to process these emotions is natural, and a necessary part of growth.

Raleigh Moore describes himself as a “tour guide to a cinematic world of blending genres. Storytelling, emotion, passionate outputs and memorable sounds.” After listening to his discography, I definitely agree. Raleigh’s tracks are a mix of genres that range from metal to synthwave to orchestral music. No matter what style he leans into for a track, the California-based musician is going to bring you great lyrics, energetic vocals, and a well-made mix. Looking to the future, Raleigh is working on expanding his sound and continuing to blend new genres together. He wants to dig deeper into his storytelling and soundscapes with a solid balance of emotional honesty and synthwave production. Looking forward, “1 AM” is definitely a preview of his evolving musical journey.
